Is Tap Water Safe to Drink in Timor-Leste?

Dili’s water is sourced from the Bemos and Lahane springs and several small dams in the hills above the capital, managed by Bee Timor-Leste (BTL), the national water utility. Rural areas depend on gravity-fed spring systems, hand-dug wells, and rainwater harvesting.

Bacterial contamination is widespread.
